Is there a name for these?

Tyler brought this home from school the other day. I think it's just the coolest thing. The teacher wrote the students names and then copied it on the other side. Then they were supposed to turn it on it's side and make it into a person, maybe themselves...or something. So Tyler explained all the little things he added to his, including sword hands, fire booster shoes, lava spraying from the legs, horns, and ropes like spiderwebs. He loved doing it so much that he made another one at home. This one has all the cool gadgets, of course, but a few extras, such as fireworks, poison, and three eyes.

This is just sideways so you can see it really does spell his name.
So does anyone know if there's a name for these? He couldn't remember what the teacher called them.

A late night at Grandma's

These guys didn't make it too far out of the driveway before they fell asleep. We didn't leave until 10:30! They had tons of fun though playing various little games and even watching a movie. This is what Jaden looked like when we pulled in the garage...before I kissed him and smelled his breath.
This is after I bugged him and he stirred a little. Jeff stayed home and was already asleep so I had to carry this 39 pounder up the stairs to his bed, which felt like a lot in addition to my big ol' pregnant self.

Tyler denied falling asleep in the car. When I showed him the proof, he said he was just pretending. Hmm, I don't think so.

Thanks for a fun night, "Nam"!

First day of 2nd Grade

I have no idea how my baby can be a 2nd grader!! He's such a confident kid that it makes all this so much easier. He walked to the playground, threw his backpack down like an old pro and within seconds was playing with a few kids he knew from last year. It cracks me up how he high fives one of them and says "what's going on, man?" like such a big kid.
Doesn't he look excited? Now he's just as excited to go back tomorrow.
We thought Jaden would be happy to see him go but he cried when we left Tyler at school. Jaden really had a fun day with mom and dad all to himself but he still missed his brother. As soon as Tyler came home, though, it was constant fighting. I think they were both pretty tired. And yes, this is the best picture I got of them together.

Tyler and Isaac, a friend from church.

Tyler's waiting in line to go to class.

Sweet Boys!

Here's why I don't get why people prefer girls...ugh.

If my boys wake up before me they're so happy to make me breakfast. Yesterday morning they came in my bedroom and asked what I wanted for breakfast. I realized they were having a hard time because we were out of milk for cereal. Tyler said he already had some celery out "because it's healthy for the baby" but he needed some more ideas. So I helped them find toast and grapes and we all ate toast and grapes and celery. It's just cute to eat celery that's been cut up with scissors and toast with butter spread by little hands.

Every time they dig up dirt in the backyard, they bring me flowers. Sure they're from blossoming weeds, but they're still pretty. Sometimes Jaden proudly holds a shiny rock behind his back and says "I have a surprise for you!"

Tyler said the other day that I was the best mom in the whole world. When I asked why he said "because you love me so much and I love you too."

Breakfast, flowers and "I love you"...really? Does it get any better?

So annoyed...

Since being obviously pregnant, I've gotten lots of comments from strangers while I'm out with my boys at various places. Things like "Please tell me it's a girl this time" and "I hope it's a girl" or even "I hope, for your sake, you get a girl". Someone please help me understand. I just don't get why people feel the need to say such ridiculous things...especially in front of my BOYS! What are my children supposed to make of these rude comments? I'm trying to tell myself that people are just trying to make conversation but it drives me crazy. It just seems like too many people have something agaist boys and I find that so annoying. I have two (not a million) boys that are fun to be with, cute as buttons, well-behaved, and sweeter than I ever could have imagined. Do two boys really draw so much attention that complete strangers have to feel sorry for me and hope that one day I'll be blessed with a girl? Of course I'm happy to be having a girl, but someone tell me what's wrong with boys! Even before we knew, it was "gee I bet you're hoping for a girl this time". Why? Why do people assume I wouldn't want more boys. Sure, girl clothes are cuter and you get to do their hair and nails and play dress up. Fun, fun, can't wait, we'll be best friends later in life, BUT...why are my boys any less than that? I'm raising boys who are super sweet and will one day make great missionaries and husbands. If anyone wants better men in the world, they should quit acting like little boys are such a nuisance.
